H-BLOCKX to Perform in Riga

H-BLOCKX, one of Germany’s most influential alternative rock and nu-metal bands of the 1990s, are set to perform in Latvia, Riga. On March 10, the band will take the stage at Palladium Riga, bringing fan favourites including “Risin’ High”, “Move”, “Little Girl” and many more to Latvian audiences.

An exclusive ticket presale for L Tips Agency newsletter subscribers will begin on September 14 at 10:00, with general ticket sales via Biļešu Serviss starting on September 16.

The upcoming H-BLOCKX show is far more than a celebration of the band’s remarkable past. This year, after a fourteen-year break, the group released FILLIN_THE_BLANK, their first new album since 2012. The record reached No. 3 on the German Albums Chart, marking the highest chart position of the band’s career.

The story of H-BLOCKX began in Münster in the early 1990s, with their major breakthrough arriving in 1994 following the release of their debut album, Time to Move. Blending alternative rock and metal with elements of rap, H-BLOCKX quickly became one of the standout names on Europe’s heavy alternative scene, while videos for “Risin’ High” and “Move” made their way into rotation on MTV.

Time to Move went on to become the band’s biggest commercial success, spending an impressive 62 weeks on the German Albums Chart and selling more than 750,000 copies worldwide. In 1995, H-BLOCKX were nominated for an MTV Europe Music Award in the Best New Act category.

Over a career spanning more than three decades, H-BLOCKX have released albums including Discover My Soul, Fly Eyes, Get in the Ring, No Excuses, Open Letter to a Friend and HBLX. Extensive touring across Europe has further cemented their reputation as one of Germany’s best-known alternative metal and rap-metal bands.

But H-BLOCKX have no intention of simply living off their 1990s legacy. Following the tour celebrating the 30th anniversary of their debut album Time to Move, the band rediscovered the energy that had driven them from the very beginning — and with it, the urge to create new music.

“That was when it became clear what a new H-BLOCKX album needed to sound like — we had to get back to our DNA, to the essence of who we are,” recalls drummer and producer Steddy.

Released on March 6, 2026, FILLIN_THE_BLANK is H-BLOCKX’s first studio album in fourteen years. The record combines the band’s trademark guitar riffs and fusion of rock, metal and rap with a fresh, contemporary sound. It reached No. 3 on the German Albums Chart — the highest position H-BLOCKX have achieved in their career.

The musicians themselves describe FILLIN_THE_BLANK as their “second first album”. Behind the powerful sound of tracks such as LIGHTS_OUT, COME_CLEAN and DESPERADO are some of the most personal lyrics H-BLOCKX have ever written, touching on addiction, guilt, insecurity and the experience of starting a new chapter in life.

FILLIN_THE_BLANK sees H-BLOCKX return to their roots without trying to recreate the past — bringing the raw energy that defined the band from the start into the present day.
